Full question:

Well I am a heart fanatic! If you have any tips or suggestions about how to decorate a kitchen in a heart theme, please let me know.

My Answer:

Well, your timing on this is good, with Valentine’s Day not too far off. And I just bought some velvet hearts at Joanne’s Fabrics on really big sale, whose original purpose were Christmas ornments, so there is no shortage of hearts to work with.

Just some ideas for hearts in your kitchen:

1. Hang a heart off any pull strings you have in there - for a fan, ceiling light, or blinds.

2. Hang hearts OFF the ceiling light or fan. My light/celing fan combinations have little decorative slits aroung them, where I can use an ornament hook or bent paperclip to hang stuff out of the way of the fan blades - CHECK THAT yourself on yours before doing this.

3. Use suctions to hang hearts in any windows.

4. Use fishing line to string hearts on - hang from branches of your house plants.

5. Heart rub-ons are pletiful. Rub them on appliances, cabinet doors, door knobs, moulding, scattered around on your tiles - anything that suits your fancy.

I saw several in Joanne’s Fabrics in their scrapbooking supply section. Just an extra thought about the rub ons. Years ago, I used them on linens, like tea towels. I heat set them and have washed them many times over the years with no problems.

I don’t know how durable the ones sold today are, so be sure to read the packages about what the recommended SURFACES are.
