Full question:

Hi My name is Deb. I’m from New York. I just purchased an older mobile home. The girl before me took her cats but left her FLEAS!!!I’ve bombed, powdered, and sprayed and soap, water and light ideas. They are getting better but I want them gone!

Thanks for any help.

Deb

My answer:

The absolute best and safest flea killer is borax. It can be bought on the laundry soap aisle in the grocery store (The “20 Mule Team” kind from years and years ago is still sold). My guess is that there are fleas in the carpets and possibly now in your furniture. Sprinkle the borax on the carpets (using a sifter for this makes the “sprinkles” smaller which is what you want)and walk around on it for a day or so to mush it into the carpet. The longer you leave it down, the better it is. Then vacuum, waiting as long as you can hold off to do it.

Flea larva eat the borax and die before becoming fleas. Full grown fleas don’t like the smell - but they are easy to vacuum up, anyway.

I’d do the same thing INSIDE the cushions of the furniture.

You can do this again - I have not ever had the need to buy more than one box of borax.

Common Sense Warning:

If you have little people walking/crawling around, I wouldn’t leave this down for lengths of time, obviously.
