Full question:
How can I display an old iron cooking pot ….. do not want to paint it because it would take the value away from it. I have planted flowers in it before and put it on our deck.
My answer:
* A pot like this makes a great fountain using a fish tank pump. You could use rocks in it and just have bubbling water.
* Or you could make a small water garden with it, using water lilies and other water plants (I’d avoid water hyacinths - they are invasive), and maybe a fish or two.
I know these pots rust when wet - I have many from my grandmother, but mine have always been “re-seasonable”.
* It’s also a great magazine holder
or
* A towel holder in the kitchen (Roll up the towels and stand them inside).
* It makes an attention-getting log or kindling holder near a fireplace.
* You can also wrap bottles of wine in tea towels and stand them in it - or do the same thing with canning jars full of food you’ll be eating.
My pot like this is my “chili” pot, so using it for things that can easily be removed so I can cook in it works for me.
