Full question:
We are planning to redo our den soon. Where do I start?? How do I determine what type of furniture to buy? My husband wants comfort….and no rules!!! He wants to watch the football game and eat/drink whatever he wants without me yelling at him. Plus I have 2 kids who use the room for watching tv and snacking. I want a room that is functional and inviting and also looks great. Am I asking for too much?
My answer:
I would encourage you to get covers that are washable. That might mean slipcovers. I got some for a room that gets the same type of action you are talking about, and just threw them in the washer this weekend. I L-O-V-E the fact that I can do that and no one has to alter their choices just because of FURNITURE.
I have no idea how you feel about used furniture, but if it is an option, you could get things that are COMFORTABLE for REALLY cheap, and then pick out a slipcovers to make them all match.
I know some people don’t like slipcovers because they get wrinkled when sat on. I have sacrificed my desire to have no wrinkles to get the ease of upkeep that I now have.
I would also recommend the following site for the slipcovers. I bought mine there and when they say “Sure Fit” they mean “Sure Fit”, even after washing them. Mine are like a faux suede.
