Full question:
I have a baby on the way and would like to have my daughter and her sibling share a room for a while. The upstairs area seems a perfect space for bunking in. There are enough nooks and crannies to give each child some personal space. Right now, the room is beige — not exactly the most stimulating color for children. Moving in my daughter, and eventually her sister or brother, means a new coat of paint at the very least. My head is swimming with the decorating possibilities. Should my daughter’s new room be decorated to look like her old room in order to ease the transition, or should it be a fresh, exciting new space?
My answer:
Ask your kidling! Then do something that fits what she likes, and can be updated easily. For instance, if she wants “princess” now, paint the room green, and accessorize with pink and purple. When she’s older, take out the pink and purple and put in yellow and orange. Keep the basics the same and accessorize around it.
