Full question:
I have a manufactured home that I am trying to do country/shabby chic, I want to paint the livingroom walls a cream color. I have one wall that I have hung a 100 yr. old 6 pane glass window on with a self under it that I distressed white. What color do you think I should paint this one wall to give it a country warm feeling? My furniture is beige leather (I know, not country, but I have quilts on it). I’m so confused. I change my mind on this every day. Thanks for any help you can give me.
My answer:
“Country” and shabby chic can sometimes be in conflict with each other because of colors. Shabby chic gravitates toward pastels and light colors, and country can use brights like red, white and blue, or earthtones like browns, oranges and golds.
If you want more emphasis on shabby chic, a light blue, yellow or rose would work.
If you want more enphasis on country, pick a bold color from within one of your favorite quilts - a pine green, burgundy or dark blue.
