I am new here also and was just about to post to see if you had creative ideas for hiding the home schooling mess!
My answer:
I saw this in one of my magazines recently. They did it for craft supply storage but it would work for you, too. You need a card table, milk crates and two long table runners (folded sheets or big matching/coordinating tableclothes would work fine).
Set the table someplace where it can stay permanently. In the magazine, it was being used as a foyer table. Fold your sheets or tableclothes so they are the exact same width as the card table. Drape one front-to- back so it touches the floor. Drape the other side to side so it touches the floor on both sides.The “openings” would be at each leg. Adorn the top as desired. Stash the milk crates underneath.
