Full question:

Right now, I need ideas for a headboard for my teen daughter. Her room is being painted in a light gray/silver with pink (the color of pink found in the new ice cream flavored skittles package. lol). Her bookshelf is black. She doesn’t know what she wants - a more modern feel, crisp lines, I’m thinking. My only requirement is that it be VERY inexpensive!!! Any ideas!

My answer

Something I have seen done for this age group takes cardboard and black spray paint. Silhouettes are really big - girls talking on the phone, girls dancing, girls lounging, etc.

Easy to make. Get a large cardboard box and take it apart so it’s flat. Hang it on your wall temporarily. Have your daughter pose with a light shining on her so that her shadow is cast on the cardboard. Trace her, cut her out and spray paint her! Repeat if you want two poses.
