Full question:
I recently painted my basement. I did the look with paint by dragging a brush down the wall- I need some ideas as to what to “top” the walls with. They need to be finished off. I’m trying to decide what kind of creative thing I could do instead of buying wallpaper border and I don’t have the money for crown molding. The walls are a evergreen color so I think that if I string ivy it would be too much green. I’ve thought about grapevine but it might be too overwhelming. It’s a large room. Maybe I just need to go look for a wallpaper border . . . .
My answer:
1. You could drag the paint brush perpendicular to what you have already painted, using the same or a different color.
2. You could use tile. Although I love peel and sticks for floors, they don’t work so good on walls, so avoid them. You could use ceramic tile and just put then up at even intervals around the wall, to give the illusion of a border (you may need more “coverage” than this option gives, you though. I don’t know).
3. Pages of a book, newspaper, scrapbook paper, and advertising work for this.
4. A “photo” border would be cool - especially of special moments, times and people.
5. Minilights under fabric drapes could look really, really nice. Lightweight muslin, gauze, tuelling, or even netting or screening could work.
