I need to cover ugly paneling but can’t paint it. What can I do?

Full question:
We put up all wood paneling 18 yrs. ago in two of our rms., now grandchildren’s playroom and guest rm. My husband will NOT allow me to paint it. It looks hideous. Can I staple wallpaper up, fabric? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
My answer:
Sure, you could staple up both of those - the fabric would give the most even look. Or you could use starch to put fabric on the paneling. That peels right off. If he objected to that, you could hang curtains from a long tension rod to cover the walls.
