Full question:
I would like suggestions for something inexpensive to put on the wall above my computer desk. I don’t want to make more than two holes in the wall to hang it on, so no groupings.
The space could take something horizontal or square. It is next to a window.
My answer
Maybe consider a message/photo/notes board – easy to make out of an old picture frame.
1. Paint the frame if desired.
2. Cover the front of the frame backing with batting and the fabric of your choosing – all fabrics work – cotton, velvet, burlap, silk (like maybe a scarf you like), etc. You can secure the fabric to the back with tape or glue – just make sure it holds well.
3. For the next step, most people criss-cross ribbon over the top to pin/hang/clip things to/from. I like the idea of stringing wire across the frame and then pinning/hanging/clipping things to the wire. Depending on the size of your frame, you could run three or more wire lines across the frame, evenly spaced. I’d staple-gun the wire to the frame.
3a. In fact, heck. You could skip the whole padding with fabric part (if you do it, you have the option of pinning things to the fabric. If you don’t, you don’t), and just string wire across an empty frame.
4. Hang/pin/clip stuff to the wires that makes you feel “that” way – the way you want to feel when looking at that wall.
If you do this, share pictures!
