Making a closet office, how is that done?

Full question:
I want to put an office inside the closet of a spare bedroom I have. I wonder about getting the electrical work done so you can use the closet for the desk area, since ours has no electrical wiring in it right now. How is that done?
My Answer:
I did have an electrician run wiring up through the floor from the basement. I had a carpenter remove the clothes bar and put three shelves in the closet above where my desk now is. I have the shelves full of picnic baskets with all my office stuff inside.
