Full Question:
I am going to lay plank hardwood in my hallway which is 44.8 ft. in length and 6 ft. 5 in. in width. My question is should I lay the wood diagonal or straight since I have three rooms which open off of the long hallway, all of which have no doors, just wide openings (formal dining room, library, and living room). Also, in the rooms which open off the hallway I am laying the same wood in those rooms as well as the kitchen and nook, which are at the end of the hallway. Should I lay all the would diagonally or should I change directions in the different rooms?
My answer:
This is one of those “preference” things - whatever you prefer. You can lay the planks in the hallway at a diagonal and end them right at the doorways to the rooms off the hall and start a NEW direction in those rooms, if you want. Laying it all in one direction would have a very “uniform” look, if you like “uniform”. There is no wrong or right here - it’s what you “prefer”.
