What are good southwestern colors?

Full Question:
I am moving into a new apartment and a new leather couch was given to me. It is light tan. I plan on putting some red pillows on it to give my living room a southwestern/western look. I will be putting black and white framed pictures on the wall. I will also be painting the bottom of my coffee table terra cotta. My question is what color drapes should I put up, I know the obvious choice would be red but I am not that fond of red, I was thinking gold but i’m not sure, any suggestions?
My answer:
A color that you didn’t mention, that would also be a very good southwestern color, is turquoise.
