What are some good “cottage style” decorating ideas?
My answer:
Ok, I was a woman possessed today - possessed by Spring Fever combined with Cottage Style. They have been gnawing at me for days now, and today it was warm enough to start that redo on the porch that I had talked about on this list previously. I’ve put some pictures up for you to see, but here’s a recap:
1. The color scheme was pastels of blue, pink, yellow, and green plus white.
2. The fabrics were white sheets to cover the chair and table, vintage embroidery as table scarves, and ladies’ scarves as pillow covers, and a table cover. There were a pair of pink gloves in the mix.
3. The focal point centers around an architectural piece - an old, old, old metal ceiling tile.
4. The accessories were pink glass pieces and green pottery.
5. Candles in pink and yellow and white were accents.
6. Lighting came from both pink and blue vintage lamps plus an interesting white pole lamp.
7. I put both silk forsythia and real ones in vases. Right now the only ones with “blooms” are the silks but it will be interesting to see how long it takes for the bare branches of the ones I’m trying to force to produce some flowers.
I’m tired, but pretty satisfied at this point. As soon as the weather is warm enough, I’ll be painting all that furniture white. For now, I’m ok with it as is.
