What have you recycled/created lately?

Email the link for this page to a friend!
Full question:
I took a large Tide box and covered it with contact paper………(beautiful grapes and leaves) I am using it in my laundry room to collect the lint and used bounce sheets from the dryer………the box has a lid and doesn’t take up much room….and when I get tired of it I will throw away…….Have you recycled anything recently? My next project is a boot box for the bedroom closet. Plan to use it to catch receipts…from purchases………..
My answer:
You can even recycle your dryer sheets once you use them! I’ve been told that they:
* Can be used to clean soap scum off a shower/tub
* Can clean a lint catcher and dryer door after use
* Work in closets, inside shoes or under the seats in your car as an air freshener.
* Make great interfacing for small patterns.
I just thought these ideas were so creative!

Nancy, I think the idea of using the Tide box and saving dryer lint and used dryer sheets is great.
Since I don’t use dryer sheets I can’t save them!lol I do save dryer lint, though. I use an empty/washed ice cream bucket(5 qt). It also has a lid. I cut a good size hole in it and drop or push lint into the bucket. I use the saved lint to scatter in my yard for the birds to pick up and build their nests with. Sometimes I get lucky enough that the birds actually build their nests in MY yard.
When it is time that they abandon the nests, I collect them and spray with disinfectant & use them when I decorate my Christmas tree. I store them in butter bowls ’til time to decorate for Christmas. I sit them on the branches throughout my tree.
Just wanted to share this with you and your readers. Love your site and newsletters.

Hi Sue! Nice to “read” you here!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your idea for using those bird nests! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE how you store them! I too, save dryer lint for birdies to build nests with (the people who worked here last year thought I was NUTS when part of their “work day” including putting the lint in wire hanging baskets and putting the baskets outside!)
I did collect nests last fall, and used them to decorate with inside - you can see them here:

I think YOUR idea for them will get implemented THIS year! THANKS for sharing!
